I am official now

Hey,
So here I am at the Boston Harbor.
I am official now. I have my Massachusetts license plates and will be getting my license in the mail next week. It was sad to see the Virginia lighthouses with "CHOWAN" come down. They are now with the rest of the lighthouses in the apartment.

I Milked a Goat

Hey Everyone,
I just got back from a Five day trip to Overlook Farm which is part of the Heifer Project International. www.heifer.org. The youth group from the church went to spend a few days on a mission project to learn about the project, the environment, and how farm animals can make a difference in the life of third world country families, as well as deprived families in the US.
The title will tell you one of many things that I did. This was the first time for me on a working farm and I got to milk a goat, milk a cow, played with lamas and held a brand new baby bunny. We smelled some really really bad smellin turklings. They had to be transported to another area and the cage shovelled out with two inch thick turkey droppings from 100 turklings. Too bad this computer is not wired with smellivision.
We spent overnight in Guatemala and Mexico, living like the people, building fires, and cooking rice and beans over the flames. Not so easy to build a fire after two nights of pouring down rain.
Our lunches and dinners were made from items in the garden and meat from the animals. All the vegetables were fresh and goood. I thought I tasted a hanover tomato in there somewhere. :-)
I was baptized with goat's milk, cow pee, and dunked my foot in various types of animal poop. I slept in a cot that almost touched the ground. We got caught in a terrible rainstorm that drinched us. I hurt things that I did not know I had. But at the same time learned a lot. It is amazing what you can do with a compost pile and what pigs will eat to keep the "trash" to a minimum.

I got my pictures back from my trip around Boston. I will try and post them in a few days. I will fill in more later, but I need to go and register my car and get my Mass driver's license!!

Have a good one.

I Rode the T!!!

I Rode the T for the first time by myself today. What is the T? That is the public transportation/subway/metro in the Boston area. I was rather proud of myself!! I took the T into the city and went to Boston Harbor. It was a beautiful day, with beautiful water, and really night boats!!
I am looking into a lighthouse tour that is offered at the Harbor. I would be able to see 5 lighthouses in the area. Hopefully I can do that before they close down for the year.
I am hoping to get pictures developed soon of my weekend. You can see me at the Harbor and on the T. Can you imagine the person who took a picture of me riding the T? I enjoyed a nice day off Monday and got a rug for the aparment. Then I went to the park and walked along the Charles River. It was pretty.
Someone from my old church came to visit on Sunday. He works in New Hampshire during the week and is about an hour and a half away. It was a great surprise!
Today is not so pretty. I worked with the children today during church. WE talked about children being a blessing and gift from God. It was fun. We learned. We played and we went outside and had fun!
We got a bad rainstorm in the middle of the night and through the morning. OF course, leave it to me to leave my window down in the car about an inch. Lovely sitting on the way to work. Now, the sun is out and there is a bit of humidity.
I have a trip coming up this weekend with the youth. I will be gone from Saturday-Wednesday of next week. Then labor day weekend, I get to preach for the first time!!! Excited and nervous.
Well, that is all for now! Be good.

Hello Everyone!
I am in Boston, well Newton to be exact. I have been here for a month now. It is a great place. I am working on pictures right now to post but don't have them yet. Things are progressing well. It is very busy right now with trying to start a new education program at the church. If you want to see the church go to www.fbcnewton.org and you can search to your heart's delight. There will be a biography of me up there soon. I just need someone to write a good one about me. I am preaching for the first time on Sunda, September 3rd!
I just got word that my favorite baseball player Javy Lopez is now a Boston Red Sox. He missed me so much that he had to follow me up to Boston!!! And he is wearing my favorite number too!!! 23 (NO - that is NOT for Michael Jordan)
I have learned a lot here so far. They are proud of the Sox and hate the Yankees. They need to have a Ukrops bad!!! They are very organic food minded. The T is a great way to travel, unless the Sox are in town. There are more than 60 LIGHTHOUSES in Massachusetts!!!! Irish pubs are very popular. Newton is the safest city in the United States. Go figure. I left the 2nd murder capital in the country for the safest city!!! A heat wave up here is considered 92 degrees. Although, we did hit 98 degrees during the week of the country wide heat wave! I have only used the air conditioner twice since I have been here. And would you believe I have only filled my car ONCE since I have been here?!! Everything is so close to where I live. I can walk or be there in five-ten minutes.
I am almost by myself as far as being a Duke cheerleader. They have Boston College here, so I gotta watch out. EVERYONE goes away for the summer. It gets so cold during the winter that they have to jump ship in order to have a break for a couple of months.
Well, I gotta go. Lots to do and it is a BEAUTIFUL DAY here - blue sky and 73 degrees.
