Ok - I stayed up a little late last night to watch one of our own, Tom Glavine, reach and earn his 300th win in baseball. He pitches for the Mets now but he pitched for a LONG time with the Braves, including the Richmond Braves. Talk about a guy who deserves the recognition and honor, along with the best short stop around Cal Ripken, Mr Hall of Famer and Tom - Hall of Famer to be.
They worked hard, they are excellent role models and will do what they can to keep the good name of baseball in tact.
Cal Ripken and Tony Gwinn were inducted into the Hall of Fame last weekend. They had wonderful words to say - remember where you come from and don't forget the kids - who are the future. They said and they showed how important it is to be role models for the right reasons and showing how it can be done with integrity, honesty, and commitment.
Tom Glavine signed his ticket into the Hall of Fame last night, by gaining his win against the Chicago Cubs = and give a hand to the Cub Fans who were true fans of baseball when they gave Glavine a standing ovation as he left the game and as the game became official.
Where am I going with all of this? We have responsibility, commitment, honesty and integrity that we should be living by. If we can have the commitment to life, to God, and to people like these three guys do, then life won't be so bad. Now, I know what you are thinking. They got paid the big bucks. They can afford to have commitment. Well, don't you think a life is priceless and what we have been given is worth a lot more than a million dollar check?
